We have also another weight that we use to downweight locations where we get poor sampling.

Surfaces that are almost perpendicular to the viewing directions are sampled well, and hence should get a high weight. Then again, samples from tilted surfaces are more sparse and blurred, and should get a low weight. The quality weight that we use is the cosine of the local normal vector and a vector towards the camera. The weight is illustrated on the right.
