On 12/18, we left Munich in our rental car from Sixti, a Ford station wagon, and headed for Dachau, the former concentration camp. After a dark and frosty day at the camp, we drove to Augsburg to spend the night (and have a Greek meal). The next day, 12/19, we started off on the Romantische Strasse (Romantic Road). We stopped in a couple of towns and sights along the way, including lunch at Nördlingen (where we also managed to get our one and only parking ticket).

Even the "royals" at Harburg Castle worry about recycling!

Toli dares the castle gate to come crashing down. Or, he just lifted it, as Fezzik did in The Princess Bride.

Christine feels at home wandering the castle grounds. A kitty, the present princess of the castle, came to greet us, then ran away as soon as she saw her competitor.

Nördlingen Altstadt (old town)
It's a Christine-sized door, and of course Christine is trying to open it! Then she realizes it's actually a very heavy door for only the mightly Gimli of The Lord of the Rings.

Nördlingen Altstadt
Christine enjoys the smell of a real Christmas tree. This was a difficult picture to take, as cars and people would constantly whiz by.
