Extensions
Problem sets
It is very important that problems sets are handed in on time: delays
will throw you out-of-sync with the lectures and adversely affect your
performance. However, we recognize that events outside your control -
such as sickness or job deadlines - may prevent you from meeting our
due dates. Therefore, you are given two free late
days which you may use however you wish over the course of the
quarter: we only count Tuesdays and Thursdays as "days". So, for
example, if you turn in a problem set on the Thursday following its
Tuesday due date, then you are charged one late day; and if you turn
it in a week after the due date, you are charged two late days.
If truly extraordinary circumstances - such as giving birth, or
spontaneous combustion - prevent you from submitting your work on
time, then please use your free late days first. If you need
additional extensions, then contact the instructor (not the TA).
After you've used up your two free late days, your score on late
problem sets will be reduced by 10% per late day.
Regardless of remaining late days and penalties, no problem sets will
be accepted after either
- the corresponding problem set solutions are handed out, or
- 5:00p on Friday, August 15, 1997 (due in the TA's office).
You may only use your two free late days towards the problem sets; you
may not use them towards the project.
Project
Under no circumstances will extensions be granted for the project.
Incompletes
Under no circumstances will extensions be granted for completing the
course requirements. In other words, no "Incomplete" grades will be
allowed.
