A lineage from Andrew Gordon Thornton from Roanoke, VA b. 12/20/1903, m. 4/6/1925 to Mary Louise Engleby, Issue: Andrew G., William Johnson and Donald Robert Thornton. 
Andrew's parents were Robert Johnson C. Thornton b. 4/11/1865,d. 1/13/1926, m. 1895 to Annie Laurie Doss, Issue: Robert William, Margaret Agnes and Andrew Gordon.
Robert's parents were William Craig Thornton b. 8/26/1825,d. 6/5/1913,m. 4/13/1848 to Martha Loury Johnson, Issue: Alverda R., Emma R., Ann Eliza, Margaret B., Martha Elizabeth, Ida May, Robert Johnson Cave T., Agnes Woods, Berta B., Jesse M., William H., and Dora N. 
William Craig's parents were Joseph Thornton, m. 1/25/1816 to Anges W. Craig, Issue: Joseph F., William C., James, Kasciago, John, Anges W., Susannah and Robert C.
Joseph's parents were Coats Thornton, b. ?, m. 10/6/1787 to Mary King, d. 1842, Issue: William, Hiram, Robert, John, James C., Jesse Quinn, David H., Sara C., Henry, Nancy, Mary and Joseph.

Coats Thornton from Point Pleasant, WV to Champayne County, OH and to Union County, OH married in Augusta County, VA 1787 to Mary King, daughter of Henry King.
Issue:

6. James C. married (1) ?? (2) Elizabeth Bales

8. David (was a twin)
9. Jesse Quinn married Nancy Houston Logue(widow), sister of Sam Houston of Texas, possibly migrated to Oregon
10. Nancy married James Kerr
11. Henry, went south
12. Joseph married Agnes Wood
13. Jacob
Coats Thornton is said to have had twenty children by three wives. James C., son of Coats, had a son James Madison Thornton
that married Elizabeth C. Kenton, daughter of Simon Kenton, famous frontiersman of Kentucky and Ohio.

Only 9 children here, the remainder were probably born in Ohio.
