2011 posting by Betty Jackson, titled "William, Son of John, Jr.":

I have claimed in the revision of COLONIAL MARYLAND FAMILIES OF JOHN AND CHARLES HOLLINGSWORTH that descendants of Thomas and Vincent Hollandsworth are related to John Hollingsworth, Sr. through his son John, Jr.

Of course, we have known for quite a while through DNA that a descendant was tested from John, Sr.'s son William and proved to be related to Thomas and Vincent somehow. Just because I suspected that Vincent and Thomas Hollandsworth were connected to John Hollingsworth, Sr., did not make it so. There had to be a reasonable connection.

Two women, one from Vincent's line and one from Thomas' line were DNA tested and found to be related. That sewed up that relationship. Thomas and Vincent were definitely related. The William found with them who was older had to be their father. They were together during the last half of the 1700's.

There was a spare William in Queen Anne's County, MD, who wasn't placed. He was present there during the first half of the 1700's The other two sons of John, Sr., William and Thomas, already had their own lists of children. This William was the right age to be our William and to fit into John Jr.'s family, whose family had not been found as yet. So I began filling in his family. There didn't appear to be any other place to put our William. The same was true with the extra Vincent that was a mystery. One indicator for me was realizing that the first names of the men in Vincent's line and Thomas' line were the same as those of John, Sr.'s line. Mash it altogether and there I am.
