The renderings below were created for the rendering competition in CS348B: Image Synthesis Techniques, taught by Pat Hanrahan in the Spring quarter of 2012.
Grand Prize

Space Art

Josh created a procedural modeling language for generating space ships and asteroid fields, and a GPU path tracer which uses metropolis light transport to render the scene.

First Prize

Foam and Splashes

Per used a particle-based fluid simulation to generate data to create foam and splashes.

Second Prize

Opals
by Caleb Jordan

Caleb modeled the diffraction, reflection, and subsurface scattering in Opals.
