Jay Thomason: Blurred Background

For the blurred background shot I tracked the football as my friend held it and pretended to throw it. I tried to track the ball along the arcing path made by my friend's arm. By using a slow shutter speed I was able to blur the background of the photo in an arc; the top of the photo is blurrier than the bottom since the camera was moving radially in a clockwise direction. To get a slow shutter speed I had to stop down to f/10 which unfortunately decreased the sharpness of the photo due to diffraction, although this ultimately didn't matter because of the blur.
